"With a deep copper hue, the aromatics are explosive! Chocolate, coffee, crème brulee, orange, caramel, flowers, spice, butterscotch, earth and cocoa are revealed. Silky, velvet drenched layers of orange coated with cocoa and chocolate remain on the palate for well over 60 seconds. Chateau d’Yquem is expensive and some consumers feel when compared to other Sauternes, Chateau d’Yquem is not worth the difference in price. That is because they have never experienced a fully mature vintage of Chateau d’Yquem. At 75 years of age, this wine is still going to improve for another 25-50 or even 75 more years!"

"Dark orange-amber. Very dense – amazingly so for a wine of this age! Broad, orange-compote flavour with such intensity! Some bitter marmalade and a hint of coconut on the finish. Very complex and rewarding. Such freshness! A really clean finish. - Jancis Robinson MW, Published: 14 Mar 2023"

Tasting Notes

"Mythical vintage, among the greatest vintages of the 20th century from Château d'Yquem. Powerful, rich, concentrated, and generous—these are just some descriptors that underscore the uniqueness and grandeur of this wine. Château d'Yquem 1937, with its deep robe of radiant dark amber, is ready to face the many decades that await it. The first nose is marked by aromas of dried fruits, such as apricot, Corinthian raisins, figs, and dates. Richly layered, it gains complexity as spicy scents of saffron, nutmeg, and myrrh emanate. A dimension of candied citrus stands out next, recalling the bitter orange peel so characteristic of great vintages. On the palate, an intense vivacity seizes the senses from the very first drops; menthol nuances enhance this wine's aromatic freshness. At the heart of this flavor explosion lies a dense and structured mid-palate where finesse and power are skillfully intertwined. The wine continues to astonish with its immense complexity and tremendous aging potent
