19 / 20"Bill's birth year – and perhaps the last time he tasted this Yquem (though almost certainly not the last time he tasted Yquem, as he lived for another 10 weeks). This had been recorked in 1995. Tawny colour with a very pale rim. Butterscotch notes on the nose, then very lively palate. Creamy texture. Great energy even if not one of the sweetest vintages. An exceptional 1954. Like Bill. - Jancis Robinson MW, Published: 27 Apr 2010"

Tasting Notes
"In its seventieth year, this wine of great complexity unveils, upon first scent, powerful notes of bitter orange peel interwoven with the sweetness of dates and dried figs, followed by indulgent aromas of apricot paste and other candied fruits. This is followed by wafts of cocoa and spices, notably saffron. A cedar aspect accompanied by incense aromas tops off the olfactory experience. The palate is characterised by a vibrant attack, a full-bodied and silky mid-palate, and a finish carried by beautiful bitters that enhance the length and elegance of this wine.
It is through an immersion in the world of this great wine that we wish to offer you a unique and memorable moment, reflecting the eternal nature of this vintage. We will take you, for a private tour of the wine estate at the end of which you will have the pleasure of tasting three vintages from the 21st century. Should you wish, we would be delighted to personalise the case of your bottle." - Chateau D'Yquem
