93 / 100"Smells all lifted and sprightly with the estery exuberance of youth making its presence felt via banana and grilled pineapple aromas before poached pear, apple and citrus tones flow through. Some lovely texture and a sense of savoury tension on the palate, which shows dabs of clotted cream, crushed riverstone and wildflowers on the finish. Briney and sapid right at the wine's conclusion."

"Very light straw-yellow hue; attractive and typical pinot gris spice aromas, dry herbs and a whiff of pot-pourri. There is richness and lightness on the palate, augmented by the merest suggestion of sweetness that adds to the feel of richness and substance. Good length and a clean, dry, appetising aftertaste."

Tasting Notes
2023 was a cool season, with a wet spring followed by intermittent showers in summer. Regardless of this, we produced clean and perfectly ripe Pinot Gris. The fruit was harvested and pressed straight to tank with minimal skin contact. Approximately 20% of the wine was wild fermented in older oak barrels and 10% wild fermented in tank; this adds complexity and texture to the wine. The remaining was fermented using an aromatic yeast strain to enhance the aromatic characters of the wine. Matured on yeast lees for 2 months to enhance mouthfeel and then blended and bottled.
Beautiful, lifted pear, citrus jasmine characters on the nose with some interesting spicy complexity. Whilst the powerful palate is packed with flavour, it also has added complexity and weight as a result of the wild ferment. Finishing with lovely crisp natural acidity.
