Another incredible gem from this brilliant winemaker - one you need to know!

Fine and precise Gippsland Chardonnay - this is of a class well above its price point.

"(2022) Funny how a wine (or variety) holds sway over one’s life, directing it, changing it and perhaps, making it even more meaningful. For Patrick Sullivan, it’s chardonnay, his muse. Crap name, Bull Swamp, but the wine is pure, refined and breathtaking. While it has all the mouth-watering flavours one craves in a chardonnay, it’s the palate, again, that seals the deal. Long, detailed hints of lees just to extend it with popping finger lime acidity. He captures the purity of the site, teases out its essence and bottles it."

"(2022) Bright light to mid yellow colour with slivered-almond, toasted hazelnut, vanilla, buttery shortbread and baguette-crust aromas, the flavour piercingly intense and focused, with great drive and purpose. Richness of palate allied with vibrant acidity and a touch of grip adding firmness. A more 'worked' style that would be a great food wine. Scallops, please. (250 cases produced)"

Tasting Notes

We've been watching this vineyard for the last few years and have always been convinced that amazing wine was going to come from this place.

"A site that seems to throw off saline mineral character in the wine, typically, explains winemaker Pat Sullivan, and the water from the site has low salt content. Broken basalt, deeper soils, bottom of valley in Warrigal, Gippsland.

Succulent, peach and nectarine stone fruit driven wine. Plump but fresh, a screech of saline mineral character and some oatmeal-cashew nut savouriness in the mix. Has a freshness, a maturity in a sense too, open weave but concentrated, lively and feeling very at ease in its frame and shape and vibe. Compelling drinking with a chardonnay pleased to show the verity of chardonnay fruit here. Thank you." Mike Bennie (the Wine Front) on the 2021 vintage
