98 / 100"Shiraz, with a small percentage of mataro, was co-fermented with viognier and marsanne. While the colour is not particularly deep, the fragrance of the wine is exceptional, the intensity of the juicy spray of red fruits on the vibrant palate even more so. This is an iron fist in a velvet glove, the flavours lingering long after the wine has been swallowed. The inheritance of the late Bailey Carrodus is being carefully guarded"

"Meat, capsicum, pepper and black fruit, then stone fruit and flowers. Medium bodied with dark chocolate and stewed flavours, but also the brightness of clean perfectly integrated acidity and layers of detail. Slick glossy texture with buried tannin – deceptive and quite beautiful – and an almost breath freshening cool finish of super length. Quirky. Great to drink. One of a kind."

Tasting Notes
Planted in 1969, the unirrigated vines at our Yarra Valley vineyard produce elegant, complex and powerful wines. Approachable as young wines, they have the ability to develop in the bottle for many years. Yarra Yering is one of Australia’s most iconic wineries with an outstanding international reputation.
All fruit at Yarra Yering is hand-picked into 10kg picking buckets in the cool of the morning, and delivered direct to the winery. The fruit is sorted, then either destemmed or crushed into the traditional Yarra Yering “tea chest” 0.5-tonne open-fermenters.
