95 / 100"This is sourced from vines that are around 75 years old. It’s a classic blend that has served Australia and the Barossa so well. This is medium bodied so in many ways it’s a more modern expression of the region. A bright mix of plum and black fruits with a distinctive chalky feel and character that is a highlight of the palate profile. This has slightly more French oak which is about 90% and it then goes into barriques for about 18 months. The oak influence is subtle and understated but still plays an important part."

"The Pinnacle Cabernet Shiraz 2016: right in the zone, this is an unabashedly large-framed, powerful wine that holds few punches back. Saturated dark fruits, florals, Christmas spice and spiced marasca cherry teem from the glass. A whiff of attractive volatility confers perk and an Italianate edge, while a waft of licorice blackstrap and vanillin seeped tannins, authority. Mocha and coffee bean accents linger. It is churlish to speak of the tangy acidity when there is this much pleasure embedded in a glass. The gentle bottle age only makes it more convincing score 95/100"

Tasting Notes
There's a bright, spicy appearance to this Cabernet Shiraz old Australian claret style wine. Immensely complex and gorgeously perfumed, the wine shows dark berry, vanillin oak, warm spice and rich floral aromas, leading to a concentrated palate offering outstanding depth and richness, while remaining refined and elegant. It’s silky, beautifully flowing and stylish with a persistent gratifying finish.
