Scores
96 / 100"The deep – verging on opaque – colour rings a bell warning of the arrival of an exotic full-bodied shiraz, arguing the toss on varietal expression (unctuous blackberry and licorice) and sense of place (dark chocolate) with ripe, gently chewy tannins and a benison of oak."
- James Halliday's Wine Companion
94 / 100
"Ink black from core to rim. A rich nose of blackberry, mocha, and anise spices. Palate is full and weighty with gravelly tannins to control its exuberance. Good length and flow with a smoked meat character building into the finish."

Tasting Notes
This Heirloom Vineyards Shiraz was sourced from neighbours the McMurtrie Family’s extraordinary and low yielding old vines, just adjacent to the Salopian Inn, where Ross McMurtrie, Vigneron was born. Hand tended vines, sorted bunch by bunch, naturally open fermented, with regular hand plunging and gentle pumping over to extract colour, flavour and tannin. Aged in some new but mainly 3 and 4 year one-year old French and Bulgarian oak barriques for 16 months.
Shiraz can be a simple sip or a symphony of the senses, a moment of pleasure or an eternity of contemplation. Only the poet can know, so stop thinking and surrender.
This wine is suitable for vegans.
