Tasting Notes
The 2018 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru offers plenty of sweet red cherry and cranberry fruit on the nose, which is a little smudged compared to the Corton-Renardes. The palate is a bit raw on the entry, offering moderate weight and rather stringy tannins and tapering in toward the finish.
Charles Van Canneyt is the extremely talented winemaker at Hudelot-Noëllat, his family’s domaine. Since 2012 he has been making small quantities (25 barrels in 2014) of very fine ‘micro-négoce’ wines from top Burgundy appellations. The style is very clear, very precise, with good fruit and finesse.
