94 / 100"An exuberantly spicy and attractively fresh nose offers up notes of Asian-style tea along with both red and dark pinot fruit that is trimmed in just enough wood to notice. There is outstanding volume to the seductively textured and well-concentrated middle weight flavors that possess a good sense of tension and detail on the firm, moderately austere and impressively persistent finish. This highly complex effort should be excellent in time as it offers fine upside development potential."

"The 2014 Echzeaux Grand Cru has a very composed bouquet, conservative at first but opening nicely in the glass, here a mixture of red and dark fruit with an undertow of mineralit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin. There is still some oak to be absorbed towards the finish, but it is very harmonious, silky smooth with good depth on the finish. This has great potential - a classy Echzeaux."

Tasting Notes
Intense dark fruits offered on the nose with a hint of balsamic, with the fruits so dark and rich it’s reminiscent of dark fruit compote, inviting you to take a taste. Here we find extreme power perfectly matched with tremendous elegance and refinement, with a dark and rich pure fruit core leading into a fresh and lifted finish.
