Tasting Notes
Brothers David and Nicolas Rossignol run this 100% Organic and Biodynamically farmed Domaine located in the very heart of Gevrey Chambertin. Very early to the Sustainable farming movement, all the family's vineyards, located in some of the most impressive vineyards in Burgundy, were converted to Certified Organic in 2004.
The Rossignols are one of the biggest producers of Chambertin with 1.6 hectares of vines in the central section of this magnificent grand cru. A fabulous, complete wine combining beautiful pure fruit, silky tannins and a long, lingering finish. Drink 2029-2038.

98 / 100"A sober yet fresh crimson ruby colour. Take the last two wines (Latricières and Chapelle), put them together, then add something intangible, et voila le Chambertin. A little white pepper to season the deep dark red fruit. Sensual yet with a superb tensile strength, despite relatively late harvest this stays entirely in red fruit, with more crushed strawberry than raspberry, the light seasoning of white pepper, and immaculate length. Not as immediately startling as their 2020 but very fine indeed. Infusion style! Superb. Drink from 2032-2045. Tasted: December 2023."

"The 2022 Rossignol-Trapet Chambertin is a magnificent wine. It is initially a bit closed, yet abundant red and black fruit flavours emerge on the palate. The character is fresh and lively, with complex notes of earth, leather, and savoury game developing slowly. The texture is firmly tannic and dense, but the acidity brings the wine into a marvellous dynamic balance between power and elegance. The wine is less exuberant than the 2020 but more tightly wound. The slightly tight nature of this wine will repay a wait of five years before opening, but it should drink well for several decades after that."

"The 2022 Chambertin Grand Cri is blessed with a well-defined bouquet with delineated, quite effervescent red fruit that leaps from the glass. The medium-bodied palate is cohesive with sapid red fruit, good body and density and a dash of white pepper towards the finish. This is easily the best of the Domaine's 2022s, predictable as that reads, but that's the way it is. Excellect"

"Brimming with exuberant aromas and flavors, this is intensely youthful in its fruit profile and tugging tannins. Potting soil, tea leaves, black cherry and black currant cordial provide a heady introduction. The palate is harmoniously structured, though going into the finish, the tannins feel a bit drying at the moment. But, no one should be opening this for years, so there is time for this to settle down. There are two parcels here, in the center of the climat, totalling just over 1.5 hectares."
