The mouthfeel of the caressing middleweight plus flavors is surprisingly refined with excellent power and focus on the balanced and persistent if markedly compact finale. As is virtually always the case, this is a ‘buy and forget you own it’ wine. Drink 2033+"

"Cropped at a mere 10 hectoliters per hectare, Bouchard’s 2021 Le Corton Grand Cru wafts from the glass with aromas of raspberries, rose petals, sweet spices and orange zest. Medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with powdery tannins and lively acids, it concludes with a long, saline finish."

The legacy of Domaine Bouchard Père et Fils, founded in 1731 by Michel Bouchard in Beaune, stands as a testament to Burgundy's rich winemaking heritage. Not only is it one of the oldest wine estates in the region, but it also ranks among the largest vineyard owners in the revered Côte D’or. The estate's journey began in 1775 with the acquisition of the first vineyards in Volnay "Les Caillerets," marking the commencement of a history marked by the pursuit of fine terroirs.
Amidst these developments, Winemaker Frédéric Weber emphasizes a shift towards exclusively producing wines from domaine-owned vineyards, minimizing négociant activity starting in 2023. This strategic move aligns with the estate's commitment to its extensive holdings, among the most significant in Burgundy.
Grapes are handpicked and delicately collected in small 12kg crates to prevent berry crushing. After undergoing a final sorting at the Cuverie Saint Vincent, the winemaking team, led by Frédéric Weber, carries forward the process with unwavering dedication. This meticulous approach extends to every aspect of winemaking, from vineyard to cellar, embodying the estate's commitment to excellence.
In the context of the Grand Cru 'Le Corton,' the historic vineyard carries the legacy of the Aloxe-Corton region, with the first traces of vineyards dating back to the 2nd Century B.C. Designated the "Roi des bons vivants" by Guy de Maupassant, Corton stands as the sole red Grand Cru on the Côte de Beaune. Notably, 'Le Corton' is the historic vineyard that bestowed its name upon the Corton appellation, showcasing the significance of this terroir.
