"Just two ouvrées of 15 year old vines. Not in bottle. Mid crimson, attractively perfumed, just a bit sweaty, concentrated raspberry with some strawberry, good acidity. 100% whole bunch gives the style. A long and lifted finish with purity, suggests that this will come together very nicely. Drink from 2027-2034. Tasted: October 2023."

Tasting Notes

A masterpiece from Romaric Chavy, Burgundy's rising star winemaker. Situated in the delicate, feminine heart of Bourgogne, this wine stands out with its smooth, elegant tannins and a bouquet of blackberries and leather. The Chavy-Chouet estate, now rejuvenated by Romaric's innovative approach, shines with its clear, genuine style. This Volnay, grown in limestone and gravelly soils, offers an impressive aromatic intensity and a palate that combines ripe tannins, solid structure, and refined finesse. It's a testament to Romaric's precise winemaking, transforming a traditionally rustic appellation into a lace-like, finely crafted experience. A true embodiment of Volnay's unique terroir, this delightful Pinot Noir is broad, fruity and certainly full of character, from the first drop to the last.
