Tasting Notes
This is the first commercial batch of Poor Toms' soon-to-be infamous Strawberry Gin.
The PT crew steep the tastiest fresh strawberries they can find along with young ginger and hibiscus flowers (for colour) in a batch of Sydney Dry Gin. These ingredients impart their bright, lifted flavours and aromas and create the Gin’s beautiful pink hue. Then, the late addition of intensified cardamom and cubeb (or “Java”) pepper distillates to help elevate the delicate sweetness of the strawberry.
It goes well mixed in a G&T, makes a cracking Rosé Negroni with Belsazar Rosé Vermouth. Best however is when this is used in a Strawberry Gin Martini.
Poor Toms Strawberry Gin Martini;
60 ml Strawberry Gin
15 ml Belsazar Rosé Vermouth
5 ml Dry P.X. Amontillado Sherry
Stir over ice until chilled, strain, then garnish with a twist.
