92 / 100"Lovely nose, showing some age, earthy, cigar box, menthol notes. A dense and structured palate with lively fresh acidity, chewy thick tannins and a minty freshness through the mid palate. Ripe fruits and in a great drinking window now, a savoury tobacco note on the ripe finish."

"Expressing fruit richness as well as seductive complexity, the wine reveals cassis, dark cherry, tobacco, cedar and rich floral aromas on the nose. The concentrated palate displays excellent weight and focus, wonderfully supported by refined texture and finely pitched tannins, finishing impressively long and structured. At its best: now to 2034."

Tasting Notes
Lovingly crafted by the legendary winemaker Peter Cowley exclusively for United Cellars. Peter was a finalist in 2019's NZ Winemaker of the Year Awards, he joined Te Mata as their sole winemaker in 1984 two years after Coleraine’s first vintage and retired at the end of 2018. At that time Coleraine only had a modest reputation, Peter truly cemented his career with his outstanding reputation to produce incredible wines for many years.
From the highly anticipated 2019 vintage, a classic Hawkes Bay Cabernet & Merlot blend. A silky, polished wine, with delicious dark fruit aromas intertwined with wild herb spice. Complex, layered with deep fruit & firm tannins a wine that can be enjoyed now or cellared for a long time.
