93 / 100"The 2018 Pinot Noir Primus from San Pablo, Uco Valley was aged in 95% used barrels. Ruby red in color. The attractive nose features rose, potpourri, earth, cherry and cedar along with a layer of herbs. Terse and silky, it delivers a fresh expression in spite of the mellow woody flavors. The tension is maintained by the fine, chalky tannins. The 2018 is an expansive, new world take on the variety. -- Joaquín Hidalgo"

"A perfumed nose of cherries, wild strawberries, dried lavender, black pepper, orange peel and wax. Medium-bodied with creamy, seamless tannins. Supple and velvety. Pretty spice notes on the long finish. Drink or hold."

Tasting Notes
This wine of a soft crimson color with intermediate intensity, has a slight purplish halo indicative of its youth. It has a delicate, lingering and elegant aroma, reminiscent of black cherry jam or maraschino, and details of violets, with a slight touch of tobacco, vanilla and white chocolate acquired from storage in new French oak barrels. The most surprising note of this wine is found in its mouth, as its soft and shy color does not anticipate its great potential and typical varietal character. It is ample, well-structured, with very ripe, gentle and sweet tannins, particularly elegant and fine, in perfect fruit-and-oak balance. It has a pleasant and long finish, which enables understanding the greatest virtue of this wine—its finesse.
The special profile of this varietal makes it a good match for salmon and chocolate mousse. Decanting is recommended for better appreciation of aromas and flavours. Best served at 16°C (61°F). The recommended storage time is 10 years.
