95 / 100"Deep, bright dark red. Distinctly darker on the nose than the Clos de la Roche, offering scents of kirsch, blackberry and licorice. Dense and seamless but also juicy and tight, conveying an impression of power to its rather brooding black and purple fruit flavors. The kirsch note carries through the slightly medicinal finish. This unyielding young Clos Saint-Denis will require extended aging."

"As is always the case, and what one would reasonably expect, the medium weight flavors possess a much finer mouth feel, indeed they are at once silky and velvety, all wrapped in a harmonious, balanced and wonderfully persistent finale. This understated but very classy effort should be approachable young if desired yet amply reward 10 to 12 years of cellar time"

"The 2015 Clos St Denis Grand Cru offers one of the most impressive aromatics from Cyprien Arlaud this year, a smorgasbord of red and black fruit infused with cold stone scents all with very fine precision and focus. The palate is very well balanced with candied orange peel infusing the red berry fruit, a keen line of acidity, but just needing to develop a more mineral edge on the finish. If it does that, then it should turn into an impressive Clos Saint-Denis."

Tasting Notes
With only 900 bottles produced, this Clos-Saint-Denis expresses all the complexity and richness of Pinot Noir. Aromas of black fruits come together perfectly with notes of rose and violet to reveal a silky and lively palate.
The particularity of 2015 was the temperature – high temperature. Sometimes about 40 degrees and very dry. No mildew, but a little oïdium. It was important not to harvest too early as there had been a little blockage of maturity due to water stress. The rain – 70mm worth which came in two storms – helped to keep to the balance of the vintage
