99 / 100"Liger-Belair starts with old vines: this year, 20% of the vines in La Romanée are more than 100 years of age. The result is a beautiful equilibrium between tension and lush, hedonistic fruit. 15–20% whole bunch fermentation and a gentle extraction deliver a sublime result, with a lovely, rich black cherry and plum fruit aroma marked by floral notes, and an earthy underpinning, coloured with oak spice. On the palate, firm tannins, generous extract and admirable freshness carry the wine to an extraordinary finish."

"The 2019 La Romanée Grand Cru has a predictably exquisite bouquet of beguiling delineation, featuring macerated red cherries, crushed violet, incense and a touch of iodine. The palate is medium-bodied with sensual, quite lush tannins that frame the pure black and blue fruit. There is gentle build in the mouth, and it fans out gloriously toward the cashmere finish. Crystalline."

"Deep and complete, the 2019 La Romanée Grand Cru unfurls with aromas of plums, raspberries and orange rind mingled with dark chocolate, peonies, exotic spices, vanilla pod and violets. Full-bodied, ample and complete, it's layered and enveloping, with a deep core of ripe, concentrated fruit, lively acids and a long, saline finish."
