95 / 100"An intensely floral and earthy nose displays outstanding complexity on the dark currant and game scents that are trimmed in just enough wood to notice. There is excellent richness to the full-bodied and attractively energetic flavors that possess impressive mid-palate density, all wrapped in a powerful, well-detailed and strikingly persistent finish. This is a bit less youthfully austere than usual and is indisputably built-to-age. In a word, terrific."

Tasting Notes
Pacalet’s Burgundies are quite distinctive, with lovely purity and elegance, and thrilling aromatics. These aren’t wines that grab you by virtue of their size, but instead they seduce with freshness and elegance. Pacalet is clearly a master of élevage.
A skilful practitioner of sulphur-free vinification, Philippe Pacalet produces a grand cru with a particularly dark and deep hue. Its aromatic bouquet is rich in fruity and floral aromas. Ageing in wooden barrels delivers additional complexity, with spicy aromas and a well-developed tannic structure which mellows over time. This wine would benefit from being cellared for several years before accompanying fully-flavoured dishes.
