Scores

95 / 100

"Very light colour and a restrained, fresh, nascent aroma which is slightly yeasty and nettley, restrained, with straw and hay notes. Subtle and lovely. A totally delightful wine, very intense and yet delicate, restrained and youthful. An ageworthy style that also drinks well young. Lemon, lime and mandarin flavours continue on for a very long time. Refreshing acidity to finish will ensure it ages well."

"Lovely riesling to drink. Lots of bubble-gum aromatics (and flavours too) but alive with citrus, lime leaf and slate. Noteworthy intensity but elegant with it. Give it a few months to shed its eatery aspects and it will be a treat."

96 / 100

"The slightest green to yellow hue in the glass. The nose is piercingly pure with lime, talc and wet slate. Tantalisingly pure finger limes and fresh lemon work with a chalkiness of texture; citrus and green apple give significant drive and the wine finishes achingly dry. A benchmark example of the variety."

Tasting Notes

ALthough only just released, this 2020 has already received high praise.

Pride of Erin is Steve Wiblin's top Riesling. Sourced from Sevenhill, this complex, intense wine will probably outlive us all. Wet stone, talc, white flowers and a promise of intense citrus flavours on the nose, the palate features a sheer drive of line, length and latent power that its easy to forget that this is from the Clare Valley. High natural acidity and hints of nectarine and granny smith finish off the payday.
