Tasting Notes
Pride of Erin is Steve Wiblin's top Riesling. Sourced from Sevenhill, this complex, intense wine will probably outlive us all. Wet stone, talc, white flowers and a promise of intense citrus flavours on the nose, the palate features a sheer drive of line, length and latent power that its easy to forget that this is from the Clare Valley. High natural acidity and hints of nectarine and granny smith finish off the payday.

Scores
96 / 100"Precise with scintillating clarity, the wine shows Granny Smith apple, lime sorbet, green tea and jasmine nuances on the nose. The concentrated palate offers outstanding focus and drive, wonderfully supported by finely pitched acidity, leading to an impressively long, structured finish. At its best: 2026 to 2040."

"I remember clumsily trying to do the Pride of Erin at primary school dances, but there is nothing clumsy about this excellent single-site Riesling from the Sevenhill subregion. The nose has a faint citrus and minerally combination with a little zesty powdery chalk character, On the palate the intensity of the fruit becomes evident with a slightly rounder melon character just adding the midpalate while it retains its essential linear structure."

"Another brand new and ever-so-young Clare Riesling, the colour is a pale straw. This gives every impression of being a traditional and classic Riesling. Notes of florals, spices, citrus and river stones before grapefruit pith comes to the fore. Finely balanced with vibrant acidity, this tight wine shows impressive focus. A lovely Riesling dominated by floral and citrus notes at the moment, but it will age and transform over the next ten to twelve years."
