Tasting Notes
Leconfield Coonawarra was established by noted oenologist Sydney Hamilton (1898-1987) when in 1974, at an age of 76 years, he selected 30 ha of fine ‘Terra Rossa’ country in the southern half of the Coonawarra strip. This plot comprised some of the area’s richest Terra Rossa soil over limestone, a composition for which Coonawarra is famous. Over the years the Leconfield Riesling has taken its place amongst the best examples in Australia. Our 48-year-old Riesling vineyard comprises some of the original planting’s on the estate; mature vines which produce a crop of intensely flavoured fruit with wonderful varietal character every year.
Palate
Made in a dry style, the palate is elegant and fine and shows mid palate texture. It finishes crisp and clean with a light refreshing spritz.
Food Pairing
Perfect with oysters, salsa, seafood and pasta or enjoy it as aperitif.

Scores
95 / 100"Excellent intensity of flavour here. Lime and mandarin with citrus leaf notes and assorted florals. One sip and you're hooked. In fact, just the smell is enough to lure you in, its aromas both flamboyant and convincing at once. The fruit! The array! This is already terrifically complex but it will only become more so in time."
