"Tasted under both cork and screwcap seal at a retrospective of Giaconda wines held in early 2017. Smoked meats. Tangy fruits. Smoky, sinewy tannins. Screwcap seems far more cohesive than the cork-sealed. One of those ‘this is why we cellar reds’ wines. No need to say much more. At its peak."

"The 2005 Shiraz “Warner Vineyard” spent 22 months in French oak, 60% new. Opaque purple-colored, it reveals an enticing perfume of pain grille, pepper, Asian spices, smoked meat, bacon, and blueberry. On the palate it is firm and slightly lean with good flavors and a long, pure finish. Drink it over the next 8-10 years."

"Cracked pepper and highly savory on the nose. Very fine indeed. Yet, too drying and slightly stunted on the finish. Tight and green. The magic of the nose diminishes on the finish. But still digging this. Drink now."

Tasting Notes
The Estate Vineyard Shiraz is planted on the amphitheatre block at the top of the property with a warm north-facing exposure.
Alluring floral notes of violets, dark berries, exotic savoury spices and black pepper. Atypically feminine and pretty at this stage – beginning to develop complex characters of Charcuterie, briar, undergrowth and graphite.
Coming from the Estate Vineyard the palate is unmistakably mineral. Bright and lively matched with fine grained new oak tannins.
