Brooding dark fruits fill the nose, mulberry, and plum, complemented by licorice and subtle Middle Eastern spice, incredibly youthful but will handsomely reward with time.

"Matured for 18 months in French oak (40% new). Like all the Penley reds submitted this year, this is vibrant and bright on the nose. Brambly blackberries, mulberries and fresh garden mint adorn the aromas, while in the mouth, the acidity swooshes in and out of each of the flavours, enlivening them and making way for the fine tannins: the carriage upon which the experience rides across the mouth. A modern, concentrated take on the classical Australian blend."

Tasting Notes

A contemporary Australian blend of shiraz and cabernet. It celebrates the historical classic blend through a very Penley lens. Fresh, bright and youthful, made by winemaker Kate Goodman to celebrate in her own nod to the past. A layered and succulent core is supported by silky creamy tannins and integrated French oak, a wine of excellent concentration and persistence, the generosity and volume provided by the shiraz, whilst the cabernet contributes to the line and length

The palate is dense and powerful without being heavy and the medium-bodied framework is driven by silky creamy tannins and integrated French oak. A wine with excellent concentration and persistence, notes of toasty French oak add complexity to flavours of dark chocolate and stewed cherries. It's incredibly youthful and can be enjoyed now but will handsomely reward those with the patience to put it away for a few years. Perfect with slow roasted lamb shoulder, porcini risotto or kangaroo tail stew.
