98 / 100"Just like last year, this patch of the Eden Valley has turned out a magnificent wine. The 2018 Yacca Block Menglers Hill Shiraz boasts fragrant notes of violets and blueberries spiced with hints of cinnamon, caramel and roasted meat. It's the biggest of the Block wines, labeled at 14.3% alcohol, but despite being full-bodied, comes across as impeccably balanced. It's fleshy and generous, but supple tannins, which turn silky on the lengthy finish, keep the overall impression one of savory elegance. Lovers of balanced Barossa Shiraz should beeline for the 2018 single-vineyard offerings from Two Hands, which speak to their origins and the high-quality orientation of this producer."

Tasting Notes
The soil here is a mix of both quartz and ironstone and the vineyard’s high altitude allows for slow ripening that leads to a very soft and elegant Shiraz.
Yacca Block sits at the top of Menglers Hill in Eden Valley and is a prime example of the role sub-regionality plays in serious winemaking with this vineyard only a short drive from the Western Ranges of Barossa Valley where the Two Hands Cellar Door is located.
