"Deep garnet in the glass, this wine has aromas of Mission fig, cocoa butter and dried Mediterranean herbs. Opulent tannins offer a backdrop to black-cherry, purple-plum, clove, caramel and crumbled sage-leaf flavors as well as a faint note of mint tea that carries into the enduring finish. Drink through 2038."

Tasting Notes
Burgo Viejo is recognised by some of the most prestigious international competitions, such as Decanter, International Wine Challenge and Mundus Vini, as one of the best wineries in Spain. In the late 1980s, six families of Riojan farmers Castillo Garcia, Galán Garijo, Gurría García, Marques Malumbres, Rivas Marques, and Ruiz Casas joined forces to establish Bodegas de Familia Burgo Viejo. Together, they oversee 200 hectares of vineyards, meticulously tended with age old wine growing traditions passed down through generations. This collective effort yields a diverse array of wines, harmonizing La Rioja's rich heritage with contemporary market preferences. It has a deep ruby red colour, clear and bright. On the nose it is frank with intense notes of mature fruits perfectly blended with spices, cocoa and vanilla coming from the combination of American and French oak barrels, in which the wine is aged for 18 months. On the mouth it is sweet, powerful and long, leaving a lingering aftertaste of plums and toasted bread. 100% Tempranillo
