James Halliday Wine Companion 2024 Winery Of The Year

Scores

92 / 100

"Goodness,. A bouquet of cracked pepper and plum pudding slides into a rich, glossy palate that's swimming with black satsuma plum and cracked pepper, amid a sea of very fine tannins. ... this wine is as well constructed as ever, and still represents the best value in sparkling red in the country. (WBM 100)"
- Tyson Stelzer

90 / 100

"Deep red colour with the last vestiges of purple tint. Ripe plummy bouquet, clean and fresh, and not shrill or simplistic. A tinge of spice, earth and faint chocolate. The palate is full, and round, soft and smooth, balanced and clean on the finish with a touch of cleansing tannin. There's plenty of sweetness mid-palate, then a clean, drying finish. Cleverly balanced wine. This would have wide appeal."

"Bright colour; spiced damsel plum bouquet, with a rich fruitcake palate; quite sweet, but the finish is fresh and the tannin drying; well-balanced."
- James Halliday

Tasting Notes

Premium Langhorne Creek Shiraz grapes were selected and blended to produce this richly flavoured Sparkling wine.

It begins with fresh cherry and plum flavours before the older component of the blend adds complex spice and chocolate character. It has layers of flavour and is well structured with some dry, supple tannins supporting the up-front fruit.
