Tasting Notes
Founded in the early 19th century by the visionary Louis-Gaspard d'Estournel, Cos d'Estournel is one of the most prestigious estates in the Médoc, known for its bold, aromatic wines. The 1995 vintage, a particularly stellar year, benefited from ideal conditions that produced a wine with intense concentration and balanced acidity. It showcases the estate’s hallmark blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with complex aromas of dark berries, tobacco, and earthy notes. Now fully mature, it offers a refined, powerful profile with fine tannins and exceptional length, making it a rare opportunity to experience Cos d'Estournel at its peak.

Scores
95 / 100"A wine of extraordinary intensity and accessibility, the 1995 Cos d'Estournel is a sexier, more hedonistic offering than the muscular, backward 1996. Opulent, with forward aromatics (gobs of black fruits intermixed with toasty pain grille scents and a boatload of spice), this terrific Cos possesses remarkable intensity, full body, and layers of jammy fruit nicely framed by the wine's new oak. Because of low acidity and sweet tannin, the 1995 will be difficult to resist young, although it will age for 2-3 decades. Anticipated maturity: 2001-2025. - Robert M. Parker, Jr. (Tasted: Feb 1998)"

"It is amazing how the color remains intact even 20 years after it was made. Cos d’Estournel’s is one of the longest living wines in the world and I have had the fortune of having sampled some that were over a 100 years old and were still good. The aromas are profound and stratified and the note that stands out the most is that of pipe tobacco, which is the wine’s trademark. This is followed by notes of leather, hawthorn and berries. The mouthfeel is taut, fresh and the tannins are gushing. (Tasted: Mar 2016)"
