Scores

95 / 100

"Ooh, this is nice. Saline, hazelnut, slight spice, subtle struck match, white peach, white flowers and a little mint. Fine bones, a lovely flow of cool flavour, flint through a gentle honey gloss, discreet nutty umami oak, and a long finish offering green olive and a twist of citrus. It’s tightly wound as at now, and I reckon given a year or two, the score will go even higher. Superb wine of precision and grace."

"Considered by many to be among the finest chardonnay in the land, my expectations are high. Far less tensile, or reductive as I recall. Vintage vagaries aside, I feel that there is more amplitude, just enough flesh and a suggestive quotient of gingerbread, nectarine, oatmeal and certain mineral torque, to impart joy over cerebral rumination. I like this lifestyle! Even more, if there were malolactic complexities, which there are not. Despite the flavor intensity, there is a sense of neutrality and a reticence that bodes for way, way more time in bottle. Best after 2025. Screw cap."

Tasting Notes

Grown on a south facing slope, the fruit is hand picked lightly crushed, and basket pressed. The heaviest solids are briefly settled out by gravity, then the juice transferred to barriques awaiting the start of fermentation. This occurs naturally, when it is ready, and takes as long as it takes.

Toasty, nutty, and faintly smoky aromas. Crisp fruity grip of melon honey caramel brioche and lemon on the palate with a light oak and well balanced finish.

An exceptional wine that is great with all food.
