"The 1999 Côte Rôtie Château d’Ampuis is a knockout bottle of wine that gives up gorgeously mature aromas and flavors of kirsch, blackberry, game, olive and spice in its medium-bodied, seamless and elegant profile. It’s a rock-star effort that’s drinking at full maturity"

"Bright medium ruby. Knockout liqueur-like nose combines black raspberry, blueberry, blackberry, black cherry and licorice, with just a suggestion of surmaturite. Lush, silky and seamless on the palate, with a deep flavor of dark chocolate. Offers great volume without any excess weight. Powerful but not hot. Finishes with superb length and richness. The best vintage yet for this bottling"
- International Wine Cellar

94 / 100

"Superplush and modern, with mouthfilling fig, mocha and spice flavors on a velvety frame. Opulent, but with excellent definition thanks to buried notes of charcoal and graphite on the finish, which blossoms in the glass. *Collectible"

Tasting Notes

A dark and deep color with purple reflections. Spice, black fruits and delicate oak aromas. The nose is dense, expressive and intense. A tannic and racy wine with notes of plums, blackberries and vanilla. The palate is powerful, concentrated and structured. A wine from a muscular and tannic vintage wrought by a warm climate. The tannins are very strong but softened by a long oak aging.
