94 / 100"As the wine begins to open out in the glass, after a few minutes, the complexity and purity of fruit, well managed influences of oak and minerality all begin to speak. Aromas and flavours of cashew nut and vanilla custard cream, peach and roasted fruit, fine smoky wood layers and yellow grapefruit. Textures from soft acidity and fine wood tannins set in place mouthfeel and structure while the fruit flavours weave in between. Well made, complex and delicious."

"Intense, creamy-textured chardonnay with weight, richness and concealed power. Sturdy, complex wine with plenty of energy and supported by assertive acidity. Should age well"

Tasting Notes
100% grown from Wairarapa fruit in an accurate reflection of the district’s unique terroir.
Escarpment Martinborough Chardonnay displays powerful opulent flavours and a flinty mineral backbone which combine beautifully with barrel fermentation to create Burgundian inspired Chardonnay.
Flavours are reminiscent of white stone fruit with delightful soft texture ensuring a long commanding finish. Partial malolactic fermentation and lees stirring has enhanced the texture, complexity and mouth feel allowing it to match most entrée dishes and seafood. Cellar for up to five years or more
