"Medium lemon yellow hue. Fragrant nose of lemon pith, crushed oyster shell and white stone fruits. Power and density immediately apparent without it sitting heavy. Fruit and artifact sing in harmony, making it hard to discern individual characteristics but the line, length and precision here is what demands your immediate attention. Carries incredibly long and finishes with grace and elegance 15 Jun 2024"

"From the supreme ’21 vintage, this is a wine of elegance and power, with palate weight a notable feature. Early swills raise bitter lime and shale from the glass, some almond meal, preserved lemon and honey. Generous and velvety, not cumbersome, the acidity wields like a palette knife through and over ribbons of pastry cream – think French vanilla slice with lemon curd rippled through. Some baked yellow peach, fresh apricot and ruby grapefruit bring elevation and energetic motion, breaking up the density with pools of charm. Those seeking a richer style from the Yarra will be satisfied and then some."

Tasting Notes

From arguably the finest Yarra Valley Chardonnay vintage since 2017, our house style deliberately eschews the modern trend of taut and fine-boned expressions of Chardonnay, offering a defiant reclamation of the middle ground where body, flavour and palate weight can co-exist with structure, texture and measured acidity.

Nose: Chalk, white nectarine, oyster shell, green olive brine, galangal, macadamia, rosemary and galangal with underlying toasty char, crème anglaise and Viennoiserie pastry complexity.

Palate: Rich and silky texture over a medium-tensile acidity line that defines and supports an intensity and heft of boldness and weight. Flavours of quince, Golden Delicious apple, chamomile flowers, basil, almond meal and vanillin interplay with tactile calcareousness underpinning a biscuity texture. A lingering resonance of flavour on the long and textural palate.
