96 / 100"(Napa Valley and South Australia) Very deep, concentrated colour, the bouquet earthy/sousbois, forest-floor and a touch of humus, while the palate is soft-flavoured and textured until you get the the finish where it's firm and grainy, again that earthiness comes in. There is a savouriness in the tannins that seems long-macerated. There's a core of sweet fruit which the ample tannins swirl around. There is a pleasant earthiness that pervades the wine. Long, long carry. Excellent. (""Wine of the World"": a Napa Valley, South Australian blend)"

"”Matured 17 months in 80/20% French and American oak. This is a civilised Napa Valley cabernet, the tannin structure particularly well handled. Indeed, served blind, Napa wouldn't have even occurred to me. The question is whether this is a good thing or not. Still, attractive drinking for a long time, thanks to its balance.”"

"Californian cabernet sauvignon “reinforced” with (14.9%, hence the Bin name) South Australian (no region specified) cabernet sauvignon. Matured in both French and American oak. Bin 149 has hit the ground running. This is another deep, powerful, perfectly composed release, its quality clear, its style commanding. Blackcurrant and bay, aniseed and mint, vanilla custard and long trails of woodsmoke. It’s polished to within an inch and yet it feels solid, almost grunty, a real red, unafraid of tannin, unafraid of flavour."

Tasting Notes
Penfolds Bin 149 Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 is a blend of 90% Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% South Australian Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is characterized by its complex nose of liquorice, poached quince, fresh black figs, and summer berry pudding with icing sugar dusting. The palate is plush and generous, with fine and grainy tannins that hold the layers of fruit together. The finish is succulent and red fruit-driven, with a steely edge.
Penfolds Bin 149 Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 is a full-bodied wine with a long finish. It is best enjoyed with grilled meats, roasted game, or rich pasta dishes. The wine is also well-suited for cellaring, and will continue to develop and improve for many years to come.
