97 / 100"Plenty of new French oak (100%) and this stylish cabernet just takes it all in its stride. This has a highly identifiable stamp of Coonawarra with its gentle minty notes, blackcurrants and their leaves, really pristine, pure and focused. Tannins are immaculate, they spread evenly, capturing the palate and distributing handsome texture and dark cherry, cassis and liquorice flavour. Diamond-like acidity, terrific depth, length and presence, fine cocoa-like finish. Tuck this away for 10+ years, it's a beauty!"

"What can one say? This is a Ferrari in drag, the power enveloped in a steely body, the rumble of the engine barely heard. Blackcurrant, dried herb and black olive fruit has swallowed up the 16 months the wine spent in 100% new French hogsheads, making any comment on the tannins irrelevant, however powerful they are."

Tasting Notes
1990 was the inaugural vintage for John Duval's Bin 407.
