93 / 100"Chambers is a benchmark producer of the Rutherglen style and this late-picked Muscat offers a burnt-orange-sunset hue in the glass, with a green rim. Evoking enticing aromas of orange marmalade, honey, medjool dates and almond blossom, the palate continues along similar lines. Unctuous and intensely sweet, there's just enough acidity keep this from syrup territory. It would benefit enormously from a creamy, salty cheese pairing."

"In the style of the stonking 2010 Bin 28, though without the same gloss and polish, this is a wine layered with black fruits of all kinds, mixed spice and liquorice, even a note of pot pourri. It has density and presence, yet agility and poise, thanks to layers of firm, powdery tannins, well balanced acidity and excellent persistence. Slightly woolly tannin structure detracts a little at this exceedingly youthful stage, but we're not used to seeing Bin 28 so early, so give it time"

"Deep crimson. Intense dark cherry, mulberry, blackberry, brambly aromas with dark chocolate notes. Richly concentrated, generous in composure and sinuous with deep set blackberry, dark cherry, chinotto flavours, dark chocolate nuances, fine gritty, slightly uscular tannins. Finishes chewy firm and flavourful. Elemental, young and juicy, but impressively built for the long term. The essence of the Penfolds tradition."

"Sweet, porty introduction. Full attack of flavour. Plum, bitumen, clove, hay and chocolate-on-toast. Excellent integration. Alcohol warmth shows. Heady. Generous. Controlled grunt. Has the stuffing to see it perform well in the cellar but there's not a lot to suggest that it will ever exhibit a lot of charm. Good but not great example of a solid, reliable red. I've set the drinking window out a bit but this can easily be consumed and enjoyed young. Drink: 2017 - 2028"

Tasting Notes
Today's Bin 28 is a multi-district blend, with the Barossa Valley always represented. Shiraz takes centre stage, with oak in support. The best vintages have remarkable longevity.
Deep red. Abundant rich dark cherry, chocolate, liquorice, herb garden aromas.
A richly concentrated, beautifully focused wine with deep-set dark cherry, blackberry, chocolate, cedar flavours and sweet, supple tannins. A very fresh, evolved wine with balance, length and movement. Will continue to develop. Fabulous wine.
