Scores

95 / 100

"An incredible hulk of a wine. Noticeably cabernet as much by its firm, wrenching structure as by anything else. Cedar, sweat, earth, custard, musk, and a glorious hunk of pristine blackcurrant fruit controlled yet massive, with long roping oak-washed length and fruit of ultimate definition."
- Campbell Mattinson

93 / 100

"Abundant red and black fruit aromas on the bouquet, the oak still integrating; blackcurrant and blackberry fruit are matched by mouth-coating tannins."
- James Halliday

Tasting Notes

Penfolds have been producing the incredible 707 Cabernet Sauvignon since 1964, really coming into its own after 1-2 decades in bottle this is a perfect opportunity to secure one of the countries finest examples of this Bordeaux variety.

An immediate, intense lift of pure ripe blackcurrant fruit, laced with mint and the faintest suggestion of violet. Cigar box and fresh tobacco oak notes showcase the sheer fruit quality. Although youthful, the nose already shows true 707 character.

Powerful and complete. Saturated fruits have soaked up the new oak culminating in a rich, sweet mid-palate and long stylish finish. The depth of fruit and defined structure, coupled with obvious muscular tannins.
