"Dense, deep red with plenty of ripe berry/blackberry flavours together with a seasoning of spice and classy French oak. Masses of sweet fruit. Great now but with considerable potential"
- Bob Campbell MW

96 / 100

"This deeply coloured, full-bodied cabernet finishes its fermentation in new American oak barrels, where it sends the next 13 months; it has an array of blackcurrant and redcurrant fruit drawn from the best cabernet vineyards of Penfolds (and from some growers). The oak and tannins add another dimension, and the wine will still be improving 20 years hence."
- James Halliday

Tasting Notes

Ignore the name, Bin 707 is the right hand man to Grange, hovering well above any other Bin wine on the Penfolds ladder " and a line of monumental releases confirms it. Penfolds has worked magic with 2008 cabernet on all fronts (read on) and in the grand scheme of international cabernet, 707 is the bargain of this release. Coonawarra, Barossa and Wrattonbully all play their part in building formidable power yet consummate control. Bang-on cabernet hallmarks of vibrant blackcurrants, tobacco, coffee and a lingering violet perfume smash into the most prominent oak of any Penfolds wine (100 percent new American). Surging, looming, exact.
