96 / 100"Fractionally brighter hue than some of its siblings; a strikingly lively palate, with juicy berry fruits to the fore. There is real synergy to be had here, lifting the flavours and the mouthfeel, and building layers of flavour which grow and grow each time you come back to it."

"A blend of Shiraz (50%) and Malbec from 1919 and 1920 Eastern vineyard plantings. Plum, licorice, dried herbs, blackberry and a smattering of gum leaf. Medium bodied, slaty and almost bloody, distinct mineral tannin, rosy mouth perfume, grip of tannin and an inky mineral laced finish. Has a lightness to it, feels almost airy, but carries grip and authority too. The combination of Shiraz and Malbec this vintage make for strange, yet interesting, bedfellows."

Tasting Notes
Wendouree, one of Australia's most revered wineries. Established in 1893 in the Clare Valley, Wendouree is renowned for its commitment to traditional winemaking techniques and low-yield, dry-grown vineyards.
These vineyards benefit from the region's unique terroir, characterized by its warm days, cool nights, and diverse soil types, including red loam over limestone. The Shiraz vines, some dating back to the late 1800s, thrive in this environment, producing grapes of exceptional intensity and concentration. Similarly, the Malbec vines, although less common in the region, contribute their own distinctive character, adding layers of dark fruit and spice to the final blend.
