97 / 100"An 80/20% blend from 1893 plantings (Central Vineyard), 1919 (Eastern), and 1920 (Eastern) bushvines. The colour is fractionally lighter than the Shiraz, and it has the lightest body (strictly in comparison to its two siblings). It's no surprise that the bouquet is very expressive, with red berries ascendant, the palate juicy and silky until the very end when finely assembled tannins (and oak) provide compelling structure."

"Shiraz (80%) and Mataro from 1983 Central and 1919 Eastern vineyards, and 1920 Eastern vineyard bush vines. A little Mataro goes a long way in a blend. This is terrific, and distinctive. The Mataro adds depth, earthiness and hazelnut to the blend, the Shiraz has some spice and there’s a combination of fresh red and blue fruits, fresh mint, clean acidity, plush chestnutty tannin and flavour, and a trail of rosy perfume on the finish. It’s quite approachable now, though I think it will be great with cellaring too. See, you can have your Wendouree and eat it."

Tasting Notes
Wendouree, one of Australia's most revered wineries. Established in 1893 in the Clare Valley, Wendouree is renowned for its commitment to traditional winemaking techniques and low-yield, dry-grown vineyards.
A blend of Shiraz and Mataro (Mourvèdre), creating a harmonious blend that highlights the best qualities of both varieties. The Shiraz brings bold fruit flavors and spice, while the Mataro adds depth, structure, and complexity to the wine.
