95 / 100"Matured 15 months in French oak (combination of new and seasoned). Earthy, brambly cassis and spicy oak rise up out of the glass. A layered, powerful and almost opulent palate, such is the cascade of flavours. Fine tannins hold it all in place. This is beautiful now, and will be in a decade or 2 as well. The cool '19 lives in the shadow of the ripe '18 vintage, but its inherent restraint and spiciness has produced wines of grace and elegance."

"(2018 vintage) #3 of 49 Cabernet From Margaret River Vibrant purple hues. Dust, black fruits, tomato leaf and hints of cedar aromas. Big boy. Intense black fruits, good drive and intensity from start to finish. There’s a layer of graphite, black olive and rosemary giving savoury complexity. Flows well into the finish. Great length, all seamless and balanced 04 SEP 2020"

Tasting Notes
Cabernet Sauvignon fruit was sourced from a Wilyabrup vineyard at the warmer, northern end of the Margaret River appellation. The harvested fruit was then sorted and crushed into open vats for a cool, extended ferment, which lasted up to 3 weeks. During this period each parcel of fruit was pumped over and hand plunged to extract colour, fine tannin and varietal complexity. The wine was then matured for 14 months in a range of French oak barriques before blending by barrel selection.
A great example of a classic Margaret River Cabernet displaying aromas of dark fruits and cassis, which lead to a powerful fruit palate, with the dark fruits taking pride of place along side the elegance of the oak, offering bay leaf like spice chocolate and coffee characters and a good acidity which will in turn allow this wine to develop into something very special.
