95 / 100"Very dark, deep, black-red colour, with hints of ruby, quite youthful in appearance. The nose features well-ripened fruit, black berries and plums, with notes of liquorice, mint and eucalypt, and sweet oak prominent. This has real depth and intensity of bouquet. Full-bodied, this has excellent, rich, ripe and sweet black fruit flavours, along with eucalypt notes, well supported by fulsome tannin structure, the wine having grip and presence. The acidity adds to the fruit sweetness and brightness, and the mouthfilling nature of the wine shows the generosity and warmth of the vintage, more so than varietal expression. Quite robust in demeanour, this should age another decade and a half with ease. Seen as "big and luscious with classic Coonawarra characters” by Wynns, this could have come from warmer climes, and seemed to be Shiraz-like to some tasters."

"Deep, dark brick-red colour with black tints and a dark, inky nose of black fruits, black olives and tar. A full-bodied wine with weight and presence, the only hiccup is slightly overdone acidity. Good, but lacks the detail of the finest vintages. Fruit emerged more as it breathed. A pretty tidy wine."

Wynns Black Label Cabernet is a true icon of Australian wine. First produced in 1954, it has a reputation for ageing gracefully and displaying excellent varietal and regional characteristics.
Great aged Coonawarra Cab Sav. Beautiful deep red/brown. Relaxing on the nose. Soft and elegant in the mouth with a touch of tartness. The tannins have melted away but still some red fruits to stain the leather and tobacco. Spot on for an aged Cabernet which even though will not improve, still has legs for a few more years.
