96 / 100"Deep crimson. Fresh pure blackcurrant pastille aromas with hints of cedar. Superbly concentrated wine with fresh cassis, blackberry fruits, fine persistent grainy/ al dente tannins, lovely density and underlying cedar notes. Builds up grippy firm, with attractive sweet fruit notes and very good mineral length. A classic style with superb volume, vim and vigour. Should develop very well. 16 months in new (21%), 1-year old (38%), 2-year old (31%) and 3-year old (10%) French oak barrels. Drink to: 2034"

"Here is an amazing trio of facts about Wynns: it has been releasing 'Black Label' wine since 1954, its quality has always been excellent, and it has somehow, in comparative terms, always represented good value. For decades, Wynns has been the backbone of most Australian wine collections thanks to its reliability and incredible cellaring performance. The 2020 vintage lives up to its own history quite beautifully. It's medium bodied, as most of the best wines are. It rolls evenly through the palate, offering blackcurrant and mint, dark olive and (whispers of) tobacco. There's a cool, alpine herb note in there too. Tannin structure and length are both impeccable, as is the overall quality. Cellar with confidence. Drink to: 2040"

Tasting Notes
Wynns Coonawarra Estate, established in 1891, is one of Australia's oldest and most esteemed wineries situated in the renowned Coonawarra. Their wines, such as the Wynns Coonawarra Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon 2021, exemplify the unique characteristics of this region. Coonawarra's terra rossa soil, featuring a thin layer of red clay atop a limestone base, provides ideal conditions for growing Cabernet Sauvignon. With a rich winemaking heritage and a focus on reflecting Coonawarra's terroir, Wynns consistently delivers exceptional quality wines that display deep colour, intense blackcurrant flavours, elegant structure, and a potential for long-term cellaring.
