Tasting Notes
To find Briar Ridge winery you'll need to venture out into the Hunter Valley and off the beaten track. Once you locate it, you'll find a small boutique and family owned vineyard who've been making wine here since 1972.
Brilliant pale straw colour with distinct highlights of green to the edges and a watery hue. Pronounced spicy pear and Jonathan apple aromas are trailed by hints of honeysuckle, lemon butter and cinnamon. Generous, fleshy pear and red apple fruits carry an appealing creamy like texture over a back drop of honeysuckle, lemon butter and delicate spice. Nicely rounded finish with balanced acidity and a long richly textured aftertaste.

90 / 100"Albarino from Mount View in Hunter Valley. Long cool ferment to keep the aromatics vibrant and 4 months on lees for texture. Peaches and cream. Yoghurt, lactic type of scent. Orange blossom and mandarine peel with a bunch of bitter herbs and a nutty quality. Salty on the tip of the tongue, the texture is round, waxy, with similar flavours as aromas. Finishes a bit steely and limey. There’s plenty of flavour and gingery spice in this wine. Very likeable. (The Wine Front)"
