93 / 100"With fruit from the beautiful village of Verduno, the 2019 Barolo Pisapola opens to a slightly sweet-smelling bouquet with blood orange and apricot. Those notes are momentary because in a second moment the wine offers rose, red licorice and grilled rosemary. This wine shows unique floral freshness and accessibility with a silky close. Only 3,500 bottles were made, and this wine only appears in the best vintages; otherwise, the fruit is used elsewhere."

Tasting Notes
Dottore (Doctor) Matteo Ascheri is not only the 5th generation owner and winemaker of his family estate (established 1880), he also runs a 4 star resort and traditional 'Osteria' (restaurant) next to the winery in Bra. In addition to this, Matteo is the head of the Consorzio di Barolo, which makes all decisions about the future of this unique and highly-regarded region.
The Ascheri Barolo 'Pisapola' is sourced entirely from one of the family's 3 vineyards. Ethereal and elegant bouquet, with ripe fruit, violet and sweet spices notes. The palate is round, harmonious and velvety with an excellent persistence.
