97 / 100"From vines planted in the early '20s; wild yeast open-fermented, basket-pressed, 24 months in French oak (25% new). Quintessential high quality grenache; medium-bodied, it has a fragrant red fruit bouquet and electrifying intensity and energy to the palate. Surely this and Second Take put paid to the argument that grenache has to have alcohol of 15+% to succeed. This is so bloody delicious it very nearly brings tears to the eyes; do I have to spit it out?!"
