Scores
91 / 100"An expressive and somewhat grapey nose features notes of poached plum, menthol, dark cherry and a whiff of port-like character that reflects the elevated ripeness of the 2018 vintage. There is acceptable concentration in the context of what this is along with good energy and detail, all wrapped in a slightly warm finish that is given a sense of lift by evident minerality. I would describe this as somewhat awkward at present as the component pieces haven't fully integrated at present, yet I suspect that with age, this may well come together, and my rating offers the benefit of the doubt."

Tasting Notes
A highly expressive Grand Cru from Burgundy's iconic Corton region. A favourite wine site of Emperor Charlemagne, Corton boasts the only red grand cru of the Cote de Beaune. The nose shows great complexity and bright aromas of violets, spice, cherries, blackberries and forest floor. The palate is intensely concentrated with great acidity and bold tannins, managing to be simultaneously well structured and sensual. This wine offers a real presence, a beautiful intensity while retaining its finesse and elegance, promising further notes of truffles and leather as it ages.
