Tasting Notes
Just in from South Africa, wines from Adi Badenhorst. The Badenhorst family farm, Kalmoesfontein, is located on the Paardeberg in the Swartland, about 40 minutes drive north of Cape Town.
Adi and a few other producers ran the Swartland Revolution. This was an annual wine festival held in the Swartland from 2010 to 2015, and was vitally important in putting Swartland on the wine world's map.
Adi remains one of central figures in the Swartland, and his wines are benchmarks of their style and epoch. As James Molesworth (Wine Spectator) says "If anyone captures the spirit of the free-wheeling spirit of Swartland, it Badenorst". Adi is an extremely generous and community-minded member of the Swartland, helping many young and up-and-coming winemakers find their feet.
AA Badenhorst is one of the leading wineries of South Africa and are leading the way for the 'modern South Africa'. It is headed by the two cousins: Adi and Hein Badenhorst. They have both had international experience in various wine regions around the globe which has helped them craft their own top-end winery in South Africa.
