93 / 100"Savory and earth-driven, with roasted game meat, earth and olive tapenede. The palate is full-bodied with firmly integrated tannins, showing notes of saltbush, dried herbs and wet earth. Has softened with time; a food wine for sure. Drink or hold."

Tasting Notes
This wine is a blend of grapes from two Shiraz blocks: Winery Block planted in 1990 and extended in 1996, and the De La Roche close planted vineyard planted in 2007. Organic farming principles underpin all decisions in the vineyard.
Hand-picked, open-fermented, 60% whole bunches, 20-35 days on skins, pressed to French hogsheads (one-third new), after 12 months racked to older barriques for a further 7 months.
An elegant and complex nose of spice, pepper, black cherry and blackberry compote that is deceptively elegant for a firm wine; but with dusty tannins and savoury spice providing complexity and a deep structure. This is a powerful wine and a wine that will offer a lot of pleasure now but will reward further cellar time.
