96 / 100"Gee, pretty impressed with these B+P wines from 2023. A different expression of Chardonnay here, tasted alongside the Pooley Butcher’s Hill; this one is more saline and nutty, a nod towards Jura perhaps, whereas the Butcher’s is more ‘classic’ in style, if you’ll pardon my wine bore indulgence here. In short, the Pooley is more Gary Walsh, and this is more Mike Bennie. Saline, oyster shells, a gentle fino-like nuttiness and oxidative character, along with chamomile, pink grapefruit and lime. It’s tight and fine-boned, an oatmeal savoury character, plenty of zip and tang, some sour green apple too, and the finish pulls the ripcord of salted pistachio, tangerine, minty sappiness and chalk dust texture to great effect, and length. Charismatic. Electric. Quite the thing."

Tasting Notes
Fermented and matured in our spherical concrete vessel and French oak (25% new) for 7 months. A wine of tension, transparency and energy we are excited to see this wine evolve.
