As promised by its intense, vibrant colour, the Centenary of Federation Wine abounds with the ripe fruit characters that are the hallmark of the very best Australian red wine. It reveals delightful balance and harmony of regional characteristics, fruit and oak.
The grape varieties, predominantly Cabernet and Shiraz, are in harmonious balance and the wine has a freshness, vibrancy, intensity and finesse. The blend obviously has complexity with flavours of blackberry and blackcurrant, cedary oak, soft tannins and a hint of cool climate spice. The perfect food match would be the best Australian lamb, because of the complexity, spiciness and soft texture of the wine. The wine can be enjoyed now, but 10 years of maturation in the bottle would allow soft tannins to develop further and there is the potential to cellar for 20–30 years under good conditions.
