Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes for Compagnie des Indes Barbagaya 14-Year-Old Rum (43% ABV)
Appearance: Deep amber hue with golden highlights, indicative of its 14 years of maturation.
Nose: Honeyed aromas emerge initially, followed by notes of prunes and currants. As it opens, nuances of pine sap, iodine, and candied orange become apparent.
Palate: The entry is bold, with pronounced woody and roasted flavours. Mid-palate reveals iced chestnut and English fudge, complemented by subtle hints of sweet chilli and lemongrass.
Finish: Deliciously indulgent, reminiscent of biting into a pancake spread, leaving a lasting impression of warmth and sweetness.
Overall: Barbagaya is a harmonious blend of two casks: one from Barbados' Foursquare Distillery and the other from Guyana's Diamond Distillery, both distilled in April 2007. This small-batch release by Compagnie des Indes showcases the unique characteristics of both terroirs, offering a complex and satisfying rum experience.
